Margaret Kemp's career is a balance of creative endeavors that include performing, writing, painting and teaching. Of her work she says:
"It was only after I integrated teaching into my life that I discovered my true abilities and voice as a creative artist. Teaching and Creating are like the inhalation and exhalation of breath. Without one, the other just cannot survive."
Margaret is a California-based native of Massachusetts. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Performance Studies from Northwestern and an M.F.A. in Classical Theatre is from Washington, D.C.'s Shakespeare Theatre. Her performing career that has spanned 15 years and her credits include her currently touring solo performance Creative Instructions as well as appearances at Arena Stage, South Coast Rep, Mark Taper Forum, Ensemble Theatre Company, Yale Rep Will and Company, Shakespeare Theatre, Steppenwolf, Pear Theatre (Antibes, France). She has also appeared in television and film on such programs as Commander in Chief, In Justice, Orlando Jones Show, Chicago Hope, Shangri-La Cafe, Fraud and the soon to be released Day Break. She holds memberships in Screen Actors Guild (SAG), Actors Equity Association (AEA), American Federation of Radio and Television Artists (AFTRA), and Voice and Speech Traners Associations (VASTA).
While in graduate school Margaret discovered a passion for the field of voice training. This passion put her on the path to earn Certification as a Fitzmaurice Voicework Associate. Fitzmaurice Voicework is a rigorous and transformational training that is rooted in breath and awareness. This training takes traditional speech and voice training further by encompassing movement. The results are spoken and physical communication that is effortless, authentic and flexible. The name InspiredAwareness keeps in the forefront Margaret's belief that breath is the mind-body connection.
In addition to teaching privately Margaret is an adjunct instructor at California State University at Fullerton.
